Walka Water Works Wedding
The Walka Water Works wedding Of Haley & Chris was something a little special with a few different elements that some people may not have seen before in a wedding.
Firstly this was their second wedding or part two of their wedding journey. Chris is from Australia and Hayley is from the USA, so a couple of weeks earlier they had an American wedding for all their American family & friends. So this wedding was the Aussie wedding.
Because they had already done this before, they said that they were much more relaxed and were really able to enjoy the day without any stress.
They both got ready together, which I totally love and think more couples should do. I love the idea of two people in love, getting ready together before they make this big commitment to each other. They also arrived together in the same car, walked down the aisle together… they didn’t exchange rings because they did that in America, but they did sign the marriage certificate.
The Walka Water Works is a very unique wedding venue. Very rustic and industrial, and Haley & Chris with the help of their family & friends, worked very hard to make this the perfect backdrop for their wedding. So sit back, relax and enjoy the Walka Water Works wedding of Haley & Chris.

I am totally jealous of any Wagga Wagga wedding photographer because they have locations like this right on their doorstep. When I scouted this wedding on Google earth, I saw a really dry, dusty land. But when I arrived the day before the wedding to scout it out in person, I couldn’t believe how beautiful and green everything was. Canola fields and lush green rolling hills covered with sheep and endless photographic locations.
The wedding of Sophie & Shane is pretty much my ideal wedding. Amazing relaxed, fun couple and all in held in a stunning location… perfect! They got married on their family sheep farm, in Wantabadgery which is near Wagga Wagga. The wedding ceremony was held in their amazing driveway with hay bales for seats and the reception was out the back in a huge hay shed. It is such a big property, with so many possible photo locations that i could have shot there for days and still not scratched the surface.
Here are just a few of my favourites from the day and if anyone needs a Wagga Wagga wedding photographer, just let me know as I’d love to shoot in the area again. So enjoy the story of Sophie & Shane’s beautiful farm wedding.
The Wallalong House wedding of Christina & Peter was a beautiful and epic day and it had one of the most gorgeous sunsets I have seen in a while.
Wallalong House in the Hunter Valley region of NSW is an amazing, heritage listed venue built in 1862 and is the place a professional ballet dancer and an engineer tied the knot. One of the things I love about Wallalong House is that the whole day from beginning to end can happen here. They both got ready onsite in the main house, just in different parts of the house so they still didn’t see each other before the ceremony. The wedding ceremony took place out the back of the property between two giant fig trees. And the reception was held in a purpose built, concrete floor, indian tent overlooking the beautiful countryside.
I always say that the best time for photos is around sunset, and the amazing thing with this wedding is that the whole wedding paused and everyone at the wedding went outside the tent, drank… took selfies with the local cows… and watch the gorgeous sunset.
So enjoy this beautiful Wallalong House wedding, it was an amazing day to capture and I can’t wait to go back there :)
The Ben Ean wedding in the Hunter valley of Cathy & Zisheng was simply stunning with a couple of the nicest people you could ever meet.
I met these guys at least a year before their wedding at one of their friend’s weddings. They had already booked me, so I was totally shocked and happy to see them. They both booked me without telling the other, so it’s nice to know that they both had the same taste in wedding photography.
Their wedding day started at two separate private houses around the Hunter Valley region
Ben Ean was the location for the ceremony and reception and is an absolutely stunning Hunter Valley wedding venue. It is 200 acres of rolling hills and vineyards and it is definitely one of the most picturesque wedding venues in Pokolbin.
Ben Ean used to be known as Lindeman’s Estate and I have photographed many weddings under the former name.
The Petersons and McGuigan families have joined forces and taken over Lindemans and have done quite a lot of renovations, particularly around the wedding and events side. Everything looks much more modern yet it still keeps its rustic country feel.
Ben Ean wedding ceremony
There are three potential locations you can have for your wedding ceremony at Ben Ean. The Fig Tree, the Garden Terrace Lawn and the Heritage Courtyard.
The Bride & Groom here chose the beautiful and rustic setting of the Heritage Courtyard. It is located right outside the actual reception venue and is undercover and totally protected from the elements. The Courtyard has a real barn-like feel to it and the transparent roof lets plenty of natural daylight into the area.
The wedding ceremony was personal and heartfelt. They both opened themselves up and let their emotions show. And it was beautiful. There were tears on both sides.
They also incorporated a tradition that I have never seen before. Salting a jar full of kumquats.
At the end of the ceremony, they walked back down the aisle to a sea of bubbles. Which was really awesome! Let me tell you now, that 99% of the time bubbles just don’t work and photograph very well at wedding ceremonies. The two reasons why it worked so well this time was:
The darker background of the wood walls and roof made the bubble really show up nicely. At most outdoor ceremonies, the bubbles tend to blend into the sky and other lighter backgrounds.
There was no wind. It just takes a tiny breeze and the bubbles blow away or just pop. There was absolutely no wind in the courtyard, so the bubbles really hung around beautifully.
Ben Ean Wedding Photos
After the wedding ceremony, we went up to Ben Ean’s most picturesque location. Up to The Fig Tree. This location is seriously one of the most beautiful locations in all of the Hunter Valley. The only way to have photos here is to have a wedding at Ben Ean. And I think it is worth having your wedding at Ben Ean just to get photos here. It is simply stunning!
The Fig Tree is located at the top of a hill and it overlooks rows and rows of vineyards. Ben Ean is basically, pretty epic for wedding photo and photography.
Wedding Reception at Ben Ean
The wedding reception can be held in three different locations at Ben Ean. The Laraghy Room, which is the main reception room. The Garden Terrace, an outdoor area, perfect for summer weddings. And the Heritage Listed Courtyard, which can fit around four hundred people!
These guys had their reception in the Laraghy Room, with is timber roof and wooden pillars.
Once again, there was some high emotion with some really beautiful speeches from family and friends that had the room in tears. They did a highly choreographed ‘first dance’ which was beyond impressive. And then they partied the night away in the dancefloor.
The Hunter Valley is full of awesome wedding venues, but a Ben Ean wedding definitely rates as one of the best around. From a wedding photographers point of view it has such beautiful locations and scenery.
And from my point of view, if you have your wedding at Ben Ean, and you take your photographers advice on when and where to get photos, you will get awesome wedding photos.
It was such a pleasure to photograph Cathy & Zisheng’s Ben Ean wedding in the Hunter Valley. What an amazing experience. They are amazing people and they had such a beautiful wedding.
The Alice Springs wedding of Cassie & Jared was an incredible event in one of Australia’s most beautiful locations. And it is a place I have wanted to photograph a wedding at for a long time.
We are well aware that we are incredibly lucky to be able to make a living. Doing something that we truly love and are passionate about. As a wedding photographer, some weddings really serve as a wonderful reminder of just how great we have it. And this was definitely one of those weddings.
Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, is just a three hour flight from Sydney but is such a completely different world. It is such a contrast from the concrete, hustle & bustle of Sydney, to the red-earth, slower and friendlier pace of ‘The Alice’. This lovely little small town in the middle of Australia, covered in red dirt and surrounded by an epic mountain range. The first thing that struck me when arriving at Alice Springs was just how beautiful and stunning this place is. The second… the flies… OMG the flies… they were crazy!
As a wedding photographer, I love getting to capture weddings in new places. It was very exciting to tick this off my bucket list. But what was even better was to meet and get to know this wonderful couple and their family. I met Cassie & Jarred pretty much as soon as I got off the plane to do an engagement shoot at Simpsons Gap. They were so warm and welcoming.
Their wedding took place at the Old Outback Quarry Alice Springs and it was stunning! It is such a perfect location. The ceremony in this wide expanse of space, yet still giving off an intimate feel. There was amazing backdrops almost everywhere you looked. And the reception was elegantly set up under a few lights and millions of stars.
As an Alice Springs wedding photographer I am thrilled to show you this gorgeous wedding . And I can’t wait to photograph a few more Outback weddings in the future.
Circa 1876 The Convent wedding of Ebony & Jared was an amazing event at one of my favourite wedding venues in the Hunter Valley.
They both got ready at the same property. A huge Tuscan style house, out at Broke called Talits Estate, which is an stunning place to get ready before the wedding. And is actually place I have photographed weddings at previously. There are a few levels to the house, so the boys got ready up one the top level, while the girls got ready on the ground floors. So they managed to still not see each other till they walked down the aisle.
The wedding ceremony and reception were held at Circa 1876 which is such a beautiful place for a wedding. I have lost count of how many weddings I have photographed there. But I never get tired of photographing weddings there, the venue and the staff are just wonderful!
The ceremony was held out in the garden behind the restaurant. For the ceremony, Ebony & Jared brought their ‘furbaby’, their boy Chase. I always say to couples, that dogs at weddings are awesome! If you have a dog and you consider them to be part of the family, then you should definitely bring them along.
So enjoy this amazing Circa 1876 The Convent wedding. It was a pretty epic day with an incredible couple!!
