Orange Wedding Venues

Are you planning a wedding and searching for the best Orange wedding venues? Hey, I’m Adam and I am an Orange wedding photographer who had photographed a heap of weddings in the gorgeous rural town of Orange. I have photographed hundreds of weddings over the years and I know what sets an amazing venue apart from an average one.

Orange is a beautiful country town located in the Central Tablelands of New South Wales. The Orange region is the traditional land of the Wiradjuri people It is about 4 hours from Sydney making it an ideal location for a destination wedding. It is not named after the citrus fruit and in fact, they don’t grow oranges as the climate is too cool. It is also not named after the colour of its Autumn leaves. According to wikipedia it was named Orange in honour of Prince William of Orange who later became William I of the Netherlands.

It is famous for its cool climate wines, award-winning restaurants and its stunning scenery. All these factors are some of the main ingredients that couples are looking for in wedding venues and Orange is fast becoming a leading wedding destination for couples all over NSW.

Here is my list of the best Orange wedding venues. Some of these venues I have photographed weddings at, and some are on my bucket list of places I would love to photograph.

1. Stockman’s Ridge Wines

You would not find a better place to have a wedding than picturesque country estate at Stockman’s Ridge Wines.  They take the stress out of planning a wedding by organising everything for you including the setup of the marquee.  You only have to style the wedding the way you want it.

Stockman’s Ridge Wines is situated on a vineyard with views of Mount Canobolas and the Orange countryside.  The location and the views are one of the best features of this Orange wedding venue.

There is accommodation is available one at the Swagman Homestead, that supplies a comfortable and cosy working farm stay.   It is an ideal location for wedding preparations.

The Paddock Terrace has a grassed area for your ceremony and marquee reception.  The grounds are all landscaped and manicured with a space for a fire pit.  You have full access to the property when you hire this place for your wedding. The Paddock Terrace will accommodate  60 to 200 guests

Address:  21 Boree Lane, Lidster NSW

2. Phillip Shaw Wines

If you are thinking of getting married in Orange, then Phillip Shaw Wine is a place you should check out. This place has so much potential for a beautiful wedding. And like most places in Orange, it is more of a winery that sometimes does weddings, as opposed to a winery and wedding venue. But the potential is definitely there.

What I love about this Orange wedding venue it that it has a lot of character and is such a unique looking place. There is a beautiful tree lined driveway, manicured gardens, rustic old buildings and lots of trees. So the location is pretty perfect. They don’t have a restaurant so if you want to have a reception, you would just need to get a caterer to do the food. But it is also a good option for couples just looking for a lovely location to have a wedding ceremony and photos afterwards.

Address: 100 Shiralee Rd, Orange NSW

3. Borrodell Estate

Borrodell Estate is one of Australia’s highest vineyards and produces exclusively cool climate wines. But I really like Borrodell Estate because of the view. It is located on the scenic slopes of the ancient volcano of Mt Canobolas and the view is spectacular and a perfect backdrop for your wedding.

Borrodell has a variety of accommodation for you and your wedding guests in their cottages or modern suites that are all on-site. Which makes wedding preparation really easy for you as you don’t need to travel anywhere.

There are a number of options for the wedding reception, depending on your wedding size.

Smaller weddings of 10 to 40 guests can be catered for in the restaurant. Weddings of up to 140 guests can be accommodated in the underground wine cellar. and larger wedding will require a marquee.

A beautiful location, onsite accommodation and great food and wine make Borrodell Estate a great option for your Orange wedding and a venue you should seriously consider.

Address: 298 Lake Canobolas Rd, Canobolas NSW

Tips on How to Choose an Orange Wedding Venue

Orange is renowned for its wine, exceptional food, and stunning landscapes, making it one of the most sought-after locations for weddings. Nestled in the heart of New South Wales, Orange is a hidden gem that offers couples a diverse range of venues to bring their dream day to life. Having worked in the wedding industry for years and experienced countless venues, I can confidently say Orange has something truly special to offer.

There’s a great variety of wedding venues in Orange, from boutique wineries to rustic farms and luxurious estates. It feels like every time I visit, another venue has opened its doors to weddings. And while many people think of the vineyards as the centrepiece of Orange, the region extends far beyond them, with plenty of hidden treasures waiting to be discovered.

If you asked me what my favourite wedding venue is, I’d probably say, “Anywhere I haven’t explored yet!” I thrive on variety, and there’s something magical about discovering new places. From a photography perspective, being in fresh surroundings sparks creativity and brings a unique energy to every wedding. That said, I do have some personal preferences when it comes to what makes a venue truly exceptional.

So, if you’re planning a wedding in Orange, here’s my advice on choosing a venue that aligns with your style and vision. Plus, I’ll share some insights on what I think works beautifully for weddings in this gorgeous region.

What I Look for in a Wedding Venue

There are several key factors I consider when evaluating a wedding venue. As a photographer, some venues immediately spark excitement—I find myself counting down the days until I can shoot there again. Other times, I know it might be a bit of a challenge to make everything flow seamlessly. That said, my favourite wedding venues in Orange all share a few standout qualities.

Firstly, they’re situated in breathtaking locations. Whether it’s a vineyard, a picturesque garden, or a countryside estate, the setting plays a huge role in creating a stunning backdrop for your big day. Secondly, the venue staff make all the difference. Friendly, professional, and accommodating teams can transform the experience not just for the couple but for all their vendors as well. Finally, the best venues often offer the convenience of hosting every part of the day in one place. From getting ready in the morning to the ceremony, reception, and even a nightcap, having everything on-site adds ease and elegance to the celebrations.

These qualities make a venue not just beautiful but functional and enjoyable for everyone involved, ensuring the day is as seamless and magical as possible.

Onsite Accommodation

One of the best things about Orange is the abundance of accommodation options. From charming stays on Airbnb to boutique lodgings and even larger hotels, there’s something for everyone. But, in my opinion, nothing beats having great onsite accommodation right at the wedding venue. It’s a game-changer for both the couple and their guests—making it so easy to simply stroll back to your room at the end of the night without worrying about transport or logistics.

For the wedding couple, onsite accommodation is a stress-saver. It eliminates any travel concerns on the day, giving you more time to focus on getting ready and soaking in the excitement. Knowing you can step out of your room and walk to your ceremony is such a calming thought.

I particularly love when both the couple get ready at the same property. They’re usually in separate rooms or different areas of the venue, and in all my experience, there’s never been an accidental run-in unless the couple wants it to happen. From a photography perspective, this setup is a dream. It allows me to effortlessly move between the two of you during the preparation, capturing all those beautiful behind-the-scenes moments without needing to rush or miss anything. It creates a relaxed and intimate vibe that sets the perfect tone for the rest of the day.

If you’re choosing a venue in Orange, onsite accommodation is definitely worth prioritising—it’s convenience wrapped in elegance!

Orange Ceremony Locations

Having your ceremony at the same location as your reception is such a win for everyone involved. It simplifies the day immensely—not just for you, but for your guests as well. You can seamlessly transition from your ceremony to mingling with guests, enjoying drinks and canapés, taking stunning photos, and finally heading straight into the reception. No one has to worry about travelling between locations, and the day flows effortlessly.

That said, not all venues in Orange have ideal spots for wedding ceremonies. Some places may have distracting backgrounds, harsh lighting, limited shade, or cramped spaces. While a professional photographer can work around these challenges, it’s always in the back of your mind that the setting could be better. If you’re planning an outdoor ceremony, it’s worth checking out some tips on how to make the most of the space and lighting.

Another big consideration is having a solid wet weather backup plan. As much as we all hope for sunshine, you’ve got to prepare for the worst. I’ve seen ceremonies squeezed into carports due to unexpected rain—not exactly the dream setting, but sometimes it’s the only option. That’s why it’s crucial to choose a venue with a reliable indoor alternative.

When searching for the perfect venue in Orange, prioritise one with a picturesque ceremony location and a wet weather option you’d actually be happy to use. It’ll give you peace of mind knowing you’re covered no matter what the day throws at you!

Orange Photo Locations

One of the key things I look for in a wedding venue is the ability to do all your photos on-site. It’s such a bonus when a venue offers stunning landscapes and scenery right at your fingertips, eliminating the need to travel for those perfect shots. Orange is blessed with beautiful rolling hills, vineyards, and countryside backdrops, so many venues already tick this box.

I especially love venues with large properties that provide a variety of photo opportunities. Having a mix of locations—like open fields, charming gardens, and rustic buildings—means we can create a diverse and visually stunning gallery of images without ever leaving the property. It’s even better if the venue has plenty of trees and shaded areas, which can be a lifesaver during those scorching Orange summers, where temperatures can easily hit the forties.

The convenience of on-site photo locations not only saves time but also allows you to relax and enjoy the day without worrying about transport or schedules. So when choosing a venue in Orange, look for one with plenty of photogenic spots—it’ll make capturing your memories effortless and beautiful!

Orange Reception Venues

Choosing the perfect reception venue is such a personal decision, but if you’re getting married in Orange, I think the setting should reflect the charm and uniqueness of the region. Whether it’s a rustic barn overlooking the vineyards or an elegant restaurant showcasing Orange’s renowned food and wine, the venue should feel like it belongs to the landscape. What I can’t stand is a room that looks like a generic function hall—something that could be anywhere, with no sense of place or personality.

If you’re planning a summer wedding, make sure the venue has air-conditioning or plenty of outdoor space where guests can enjoy a fresh breeze. Orange summers can get warm, and keeping your guests comfortable will help everyone relax and have a great time. For winter weddings, a fireplace or firepit is a fabulous touch. Not only does it add warmth, but it also creates a cosy, romantic atmosphere where your guests can gather and unwind.

The best reception venues in Orange are those that celebrate the region’s natural beauty while offering comfort and character. Whether you’re after something rustic, modern, or somewhere in between, there’s no shortage of stunning options to create the perfect vibe for your big day.

The Venue Staff & Management

Having been to countless wedding venues, I’ve learned that the way the staff and management operate can make or break the experience—not just for the couple but for everyone involved, including guests and vendors. You can tell a lot about a venue by observing how the team interacts with each other and with other wedding professionals on the day.

For instance, I’ve worked at some very popular venues that I’d describe as “wedding factories.” The staff often seemed worn out, disengaged, and uninterested in the event. Smiles were rare, and interactions with guests felt robotic. The managers weren’t much better—usually stressed, snappy, and not exactly radiating joy. It’s clear in these situations that the pressure and perhaps even poor treatment from management trickles down to the staff, ultimately impacting the overall service.

When you’re visiting venues and meeting with coordinators or property owners, pay close attention to how they treat you during those initial interactions. If they’re not warm, accommodating, or helpful during a casual chat, it’s worth questioning how they’ll handle the intensity of a wedding day. Remember, a wedding is full of moving parts, emotions, and timelines—having a calm, supportive, and friendly team behind you can make all the difference.

The way staff and management conduct themselves is a reflection of the venue’s culture, so trust your instincts. A team that feels genuinely happy, attentive, and collaborative is one that will go above and beyond to ensure your day runs smoothly and feels special.
