20 Best Wedding Venues in Australia

Are you looking for the best wedding venues in Australia? Hi there! I’m Adam, an Australian wedding photographer who loves to shoot weddings all over this beautiful country. I’ve seen a lot of wedding venues in Australia. The really spectacular wedding venues and some pretty average venues.

So I’d love to share with you some of my favourite wedding venues on this page, and also share some of the venues I’d love to photograph weddings at. There are some venues that have been on my bucket list for a while, so I’ll just put it out there

So here, in no particular order, are my favourite and arguably some of the best wedding venues in Australia.

1. Circa 1876

Circa 1876 is a beautiful rustic restaurant that is part of The Convent Escarpment Group located in the Hunter Valley NSW. I have lost count of how many weddings I have shot there, but it is a lot. And by having your wedding at this venue, you are pretty much guaranteed to get beautiful wedding photos. It’s hard to take a bad photo at this amazing venue.

There is on-site accommodation about 200 metres down the road at The Convent. And the rooms at The Convent are high-end country luxury that is perfect for wedding preparation photos.

Photographically speaking, the outdoor ceremony location is absolutely perfect for wedding photography. There is a natural isle formed by trees and the light for the ceremony is always perfect, which is due to the direction of the sun. The sun sets behind the couple and normally filtered through the trees making the light beautiful for the couple.

Circa 1876 also has great locations for wedding photos, it has an amazing restaurant with fantastic staff. It has everything you need for a perfect wedding. Can accommodate up to 150 guests.

2. Deux Belettes

Located up in the Ballina/Byron Bay hinterland, on the east coast of northern New South Wales, sits this amazing rural french style chateau called Deux Belettes.

This place looks amazing! This luxurious private guest house and Byron hinterland wedding venue is hidden on a quiet rural lane surrounded by tropical fruit plantations and rainforest, a rich and changing tapestry of pebbled walkways and stone walls. Deux Belettes is an amazing location for a wedding or elopement and is filled with classic and antique furniture and a friendly environment.

There are two accommodation suites onsite, The Tower Suite and The Granary that both sleep two. And there are some lovely options for your wedding ceremony. Photography wise, the whole venue and the surrounding farmlands are just perfect for photography. You don’t need to travel anywhere else. It can accommodated weddings up to 100 people seated and this is why this place is on my best wedding venues in Australia list.

3. Longitude 131

Longitude 131 is located in Australia’s spiritual heart, just outside the World Heritage-listed Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and wow what a location for a wedding.

This exclusive property has just fifteen luxury tents which all have stunning views of Uluru and Kata Tjuta. I’ve done an elopement here and it was spectacular. If you were wanting to have a wedding here I would suggest booking out the whole place.

Wedding ceremonies happen up on the dune top deck overlooking Uluru and the desert landscape. And there are a few wedding reception options available to you depending on your wedding size and where your guests are staying. This is one of my best wedding venues in Australia because of the location and the luxury. It is pretty awesome.

4. Goosewing Cottage

Goosewing Cottage wedding

Located up in the hills of Mount View is one of the best wedding venues in Australia that caters to small weddings of up to 20 people. Goosewing Cottage. Rustic, country and rural.

It offers onsite accommodation with two houses to choose from. The wedding ceremony takes place down by the dam where you often have the local cows and kangaroos taking a peek. And the photo locations in the stunning countryside are just epic.

They don’t offer receptions, but if it is just two of you I would recommend getting a private chef to come in a cater a private dinner for you. Check out their photos and I think you will agree that this place is amazing!

5. Mona

Located on the banks of the Derwent a short ferry trip from Hobart, Mona is Australia’s largest private museum with three levels of underground galleries and they do weddings! Built by David Walsh, the Museum of Old and New Art (Mona) houses his collection of ancient, modern and contemporary art.

There is accommodation available and you can have your wedding ceremony at the very artistic Wim Delvoye’s Chapel which is an outdoor chapel like you have never seen before. There are a number of spaces available for your wedding reception, depending on your size.

The thing for me that makes Mona one of the best wedding venues in Australia, is that the photos you can take inside the gallery with the existing art and outdoors are something really different and unique which I really love.

6. Shene Estate & Distillery

Located in the Tasmanian countryside this property looks so historic and unique that it just has to be on my list of the best wedding venues in Australia.

I have never photographed a wedding there but I think a wedding at Shene Estate & Distillery would be amazing. Getting married and having your wedding reception at a 200-year-old historic distillery sounds like a perfect wedding to me. And if it does to you, then you should check out their website.

7. Old Outback Quarry Alice Springs

One of the best wedding venues in Australia is the Old Outback Quarry in Alice Springs, Northern Territory. It’s probably not everyone’s cup of tea but I just love it.

Get married in the red dirt of an old quarry mine with the Australian landscape as your backdrop. The landscape at sunset is simply stunning with the red early colours coming out even more. Then you dine outdoors under the stars. And it rarely rains in Alice Springs so there is no wet weather backup needed. It is a pretty amazing and unique experience.

8. The Stones of the Yarra Valley

From every aspect, there is something absolutely amazing to take in, surrounded by century-old oak trees, vineyards, and blue-tinged mountains beyond. Stones of the Yarra Valley is one of the best wedding venues in Australia, with its beautifully renovated 1860’s Barn, Stables, Dairy, and Chapel all connected by European-inspired pathways over acres of manicured lawns.

This venue is rustic and rural yet is extremely sophisticated and modern. Stones of the Yarra Valley is situated on one of the most magnificent and historic properties in the Yarra Valley, with sweeping views through vineyards to the blue-tinged Great Divide.

Located in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, with coastal views through to Mount Coolum, Maleny Manor is without a doubt, one of the best wedding venues in Australia.

It has six Hamptons style accommodation suites onsite, there are beautiful options for the wedding ceremony. And you can do photos onsite or even travel offsite to places like One Tree Hill. The reception can accommodate up to 150 people.

10. Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge

If you are looking to get married in Cradle Mountain then Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge would have to be the place to do it. Located right on the doorstep of Cradle Mountain, this is an amazing place to get married.

11. Redleaf Wollombi

Redleaf Wollombi is a luxury country retreat set on one hundred acres of land in the historic town of Wollombi. And damn this is a beautiful property!

The house itself is a huge Tuscan inspired home that can accommodate 8 to 12 guests. There are two separate parts to the house so a couple can easily get ready there but still be far enough apart that they don’t see each other.

Can accommodate up to 60 guests in the Redleaf Barn, or you can hire a marquee for larger numbers.

Address: 76 Shene Rd, Pontville TAS

12. Milton Park Bowral

Milton Park Country House Hotel & Spa is a five-star property located in its own private hilltop woodland just east of Bowral in the picturesque Southern Highlands of New South Wales. The hotel’s centrepiece is a magnificent mansion that was built at the turn of the twentieth century.

This is the place that Sydney’s wealthy came to and now it is one of the best wedding venues in Australia because of it’s old world charm and elegance.
