7 Amazing Port Stephens Wedding Venues

Are you engaged and looking for awesome Port Stephens wedding venues? Hi, I’m Adam a Port Stephens wedding photographer and I photograph lots of weddings around Port Stephens and around the neighbouring regions nearby. I’ve seen the good, the bad and the amazing wedding venues.

Port Stephens is located about an hour north of Newcastle or 2.5 hours from Sydney and is a beautiful place for a wedding. This sleepy little seaside town is a popular holiday and tourist destination due to its beautiful National Parks, beaches and water activities. And the style and type of wedding venues reflects this lifestyle.

So here is my list of the best Port Stephens wedding venues. Not all these venues are located entirely in Port Stephens, but they are in nearby towns. And some of the venues I have photographed and some I haven’t but would love to.

1. Stanley Park

Stanley Park is one of my very favourite wedding venues in the region. It’s probably a bit of a stretch putting it as Port Stephens as it is pretty much in-between there and Newcastle. but it is awesome so worth adding. It is a 28 acre wedding venue located on the waterfront and is has a majestic and very historic eight-bedroom homestead and uninterrupted water views. It is one of the best places to relax, celebrate, and have an amazing wedding.

The venue offers you flexibility. You can design your wedding on any theme you want, and you can choose your preferred suppliers. If you are looking for a peaceful and private place to have your wedding ceremony, Stanley Park is the perfect place to have it.

You and your partner can exchange vows under the ancient fig tree, dance, and celebrate all night in the spacious rustic Barn, and you can have a good sleep at the homestead.

Stanley Park is located in a secluded area, but it is only 20 minutes from the Newcastle CBD, 5 minutes from Newcastle airport, and 25 minutes from Nelsons Bay. So if you need accommodation for your friends and relatives, you can find something around the area. The homestead itself is perfect for wedding prep and it is big enough that you can both get ready there and not see each other.

The reception area is rustic and awesome. It is an American-style barn with corrugated iron design, timber, and steel proportioned with its 19 x 16-meter floor space and can be extended at a 16 x 4 covered outdoor terrace. The area can accommodate around 130 guests.

You have the option to get the in-house caterer of Stanley Park or bring your caterer. The Barn is very versatile as it can fit any style of wedding from conservative, glamorous, vintage to minimalist and Boho. Your guests will enjoy the tranquil views of Fullerton Cove, lush green lawns around the Barn, and the stunning sunsets. For winter weddings, the venue’s Chiminea fireplace will keep you warm and provide a cozy atmosphere.

After a long day of celebration, you can rest and relax at the three-level Victorian Homestead that can house up to 15 guests.

2. Murray’s Brewery

Murray’s Brewery has been producing the best beer in town since 2006 and it is a great relaxed wedding venue. It has won several awards, including Australia’s Brewer of the Year. After many years of brewing the best beer, the equipment and its brewing team transfer to its new home at Bobs Farm, Port Stephens. The brewing facilities became bigger.

The last wedding I photographed there was back in 2014 and back then it was very much a brewery that sometimes did weddings. It now looks like Murray’s Brewery has done some upgrades since then.. It is a 35-acre property with grape and hops vines. The property backs onto bushland, so there is photo opportunities in the bush in the vineyard and around the brewery.

Garden ceremony, followed by a rustic reception with good hearty food and beer. Sounds like a pretty good Port Stephens wedding.

6. Valhalla Restaurant and Bar

The Spruce family owned the Valhalla Restaurant and Bar. Initially, the venue is a farm providing veggies in the Port Stephens community. Their signature vegetable is the famous Anna Bay Tomatoes.

Only recently, they decided to expand their repertoire, and now they are not just planting veggies. They also prepare the best dishes using the vegetables they harvest. And then, Valhalla Restaurant and Bar opened in front of the majestic Spruce Estate. Because of its marvelous view and rustic design, it is considered one of the best venues for weddings.

If you wonder where the owner got the name Valhalla, it is a popular character in Viking mythology. It is one of the lovely halls of Asgard, the home of Norse gods. The beauty of Valhalla is unique, both homely. The restaurant has a European feel and Scandinavian influence. Indeed, it is one of the best sites for your wedding.
