Peppers Creek Barrel Room Wedding
This Peppers Creek Barrel Room wedding in the Hunter Valley of Margot & Nick was an absolutely epic and spectacular day in every sense.
Peppers Creek would have to be one of my favourite wedding venues in the Hunter Valley. I have lost count of how many wedding I have shot there over the years. But each wedding is totally unique and different. And Margot & Nick’s wedding was definitely unique! And before you ask… the amazing ceremony and reception styling which was done by the incredicle Peonies Boutique.
They both got ready on-site at Peppers. The boys got ready in the Yacht Club while the girls got ready in The Residence. Which made it really easy to do preparation photos as I could just walk back and forth between them. The wedding ceremony was in the beautiful sandstone chapel, then it was over to the Barrel Room for the wedding reception.
These guys were just so relaxed and easy-going. Plus they had a really awesome bridal party which made the day lots of fun. And I think this really shows in the photos.

Weddings at Peppers Creek Barrel Room & Chapel
Located on Broke Road in Pokolbin, Peppers Creek Barrel Room & Chapel is a beautiful choice for couples wanting a classic Hunter Valley wedding surrounded by vineyards and countryside. The sandstone buildings and Tuscan-inspired architecture give Peppers Creek a distinctive look that is quite different from many of the more modern wedding venues around the Hunter Valley.
A big part of the appeal is how easily the wedding day can flow from one part of the property to another. Couples can get married in the chapel or choose an outdoor ceremony amongst the vines before moving across to the Barrel Room for the reception. Everything is close together, so guests don’t need to travel between the ceremony and reception and couples can spend more of the day actually enjoying their wedding.
The Peppers Creek Chapel
The sandstone chapel at Peppers Creek is one of the venue’s most recognisable features. Sitting beside the merlot vineyard, it provides an indoor ceremony option while still feeling connected to the surrounding Hunter Valley landscape.
It’s also a great wet-weather option. Having a permanent ceremony space onsite takes away some of the uncertainty that can come with planning an entirely outdoor vineyard wedding.
For couples who would prefer to get married outside, Peppers Creek also has ceremony locations around the vineyards, fields and grounds.
Peppers Creek Wedding Photography
One thing I really like about photographing weddings at Peppers Creek is how many different locations are available without having to drive anywhere.
The vineyard is an obvious choice, but there are also open fields, country roads, sandstone walls, the chapel entrance, large doors around the Barrel Room and plenty of quieter areas around the property. This means we can get a really varied set of wedding photos while keeping the portrait session relatively relaxed.
Later in the afternoon, it’s usually worth heading back outside for another quick set of photos as the light drops across the vineyards. These short sunset sessions often only take a few minutes but can give couples a completely different look from the photos taken earlier in the day.
The Peppers Creek Barrel Room
After the ceremony, celebrations move into the Peppers Creek Barrel Room. The space has exposed timber, sandstone, festoon lighting and a large fireplace, giving it plenty of character before any additional wedding styling is added.
It works particularly well for couples who love the rustic Hunter Valley aesthetic but still want a reception that feels elegant and atmospheric once everyone sits down for dinner.
Peppers Creek also provides its own onsite wedding catering, which can make planning easier by keeping one of the biggest parts of the reception with the venue team.
Staying at Peppers Creek
Another useful feature for destination weddings is the accommodation within Peppers Creek Village. There are three stone cottages — The Residence, The Yacht Club and The Racquet Club — which together can accommodate up to 26 guests.
Having accommodation so close to the chapel and reception can be particularly handy for the couple, immediate family or wedding party. It also means some of the key people involved in the day don’t have to worry about travelling across Pokolbin before or after the wedding.
