Lake Crackenback Resort Wedding
The Lake Crackenback Resort wedding of Clare & James was an absolutely gorgeous wedding in one of the most beautiful locations in Australia.
A small wedding in a beautiful location with an awesome couple, equals my ideal wedding to photograph. I absolutely love travelling to different locations for weddings and this wedding was totally worth the seven hour drive.
Both the wedding ceremony and reception were held in the Snowy Mountains at Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa. The weather was absolutely beautiful, with the temperature staying just above freezing! There was a lot of DIY as well as kangaroos, deer, a few European wasps, some gum boots and an old military sword that was used to cut the cake.

Lake Crackenback Resort Weddings
Lake Crackenback Resort, now operated as Oaks Lake Crackenback Resort, is one of the most scenic wedding venues in the Snowy Mountains. Set in the Thredbo Valley near Jindabyne and right beside Kosciuszko National Park, the resort is surrounded by alpine bushland, mountains, water and open countryside, giving weddings here a very distinctive landscape compared with most NSW venues.
A Lake Crackenback Resort wedding can be kept almost entirely onsite, with several ceremony and reception options available around the property. Couples can marry beside the lake, alongside the Thredbo River or within the surrounding alpine landscape, with indoor reception spaces available afterwards.
From a photography point of view, this is one of the big attractions of the venue. The lake, mountains, native bushland, river and open alpine scenery provide plenty of variety without needing to travel far. The landscape also changes dramatically throughout the year, from green summer surroundings and autumn colour through to the possibility of snow and a completely different atmosphere during winter.
Lake Crackenback works particularly well as a destination wedding because accommodation is available within the resort, allowing couples and guests to stay together for the weekend. There is also a spa, restaurants and a range of activities around the property, so guests can make much more of the trip than simply attending the wedding itself.
